New complaint registered against Spain on the right to housing

A new collective complaint was registered on 17 October 2024. It relates to Articles 16 (Right of the family to social, legal and economic protection), 17 (Right of children and adolescents to social, legal and economic protection), 19 (Right of migrant workers and their families to protection and assistance), 30 (Right to protection against poverty and social exclusion), 31 (Right to housing) and E (Non-discrimination) of the revised European Social Charter.

The UGT notes that a significant proportion of the Spanish working population does not have access to decent housing, and that this problem is particularly acute for the most vulnerable groups (young people, people on low incomes, immigrants). This is contrary to the above-mentioned provisions of the Charter.
